The Compensation and Benefits Specialist is a forward thinker and subject matter expert in compensation. Responsible for designing, evaluating, implementing and administering compensation plans and programs. Plays an integral role in analyzing internal and external data to provide recommendations regarding compensation practices. Also responsible for the day-to-day administration of the company’s group benefit programs for multiple WIKA US facilities.

Compensation Specialist

Responsibilities

• Conducts internal and external market research, analyzes competitive position and market trends, and makes recommendations for base salary structures, market adjustments, and variable pay programs
• Manages the annual merit increase process to include merit planning worksheet preparation
• Performs job evaluations on new and existing positions and facilitates the process of determining appropriate pay grades, job codes, and regulatory classifications
• Maintains and updates compensation-related data within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
• Stays abreast of new compensation trends and legislation
• Maintains job descriptions to ensure compliance and consistency
• Develops and provides compensation metrics and analytics to leadership and HR team
• Performs audits to ensure positions are classified appropriately per FLSA guidelines and other federal and state legislation
• Administers various employee benefit programs, such as group insurance, life, medical, dental, accident and disability, flexible spending account, health savings account; and retirement
• Ensures the accuracy of all benefit enrollments in HR systems to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information
• Administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: FMLA and STD/LTD; serves as a liaison between supervisors/employees and 3rd party leave administrator on employee leave of absence approvals and rejections; update leave in time & attendance system to track time off and adjust PTO accruals
• Assists with 401(k) plan administration and coordination of annual plan audit
• Coordinates open enrollment meetings for all WIKA USA locations
• Audits employee compensation entries to ensure data accuracy
• Conducts regularly scheduled compensation analysis
• Coordinates annual open enrollment meetings and new hire benefits orientation
• Perform other work duties as assigned

Requirements

• BA/BS (or equivalent) in Human Resources, Compensation, or related field
• Proficient in MS Office to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws
• Excellent planning and time management skills
• 2-4 years’ experience working in a Human Resources department in a Compensation role
• Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• PHR/SHRM-CP certification
• Knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines
• Previous Compensation Analysis experience
• Experience with Hay Group Compensation Methodology
