WIKA LS-10 + WIKA LevelGuard = RESULTS

WIKA LS-10

The LS-10 liquid level pressure transmitter is a designed for economical and reliable performance in a wide variety of level measurement applications.  It provides a signal output of 4-20 mA and an accuracy of 0.25% of span.  Standard stocked pressure ranges are assembled with the required cable length in Lawrenceville, GA., for fast delivery.

The pressure transmitter's rugged design makes it suitable for environments associated with level measurement, water and wastewater treatment, well depth measurement and offshore water depth measurement.

Areas of Application

Hydrostatic Level Measurement in:

1.      Tanks

2.      Rivers

3.      Drinking Water Manholes

4.      Bore Holes

5.      Waste Water Plants

The LS-10 pressure transmitter undergoes extensive quality control testing and calibration to achieve its advanced accuracy level. Its printed circuit board uses state-of-the-art surface mount technology for long-term reliability. Temperature compensation guarantees accuracy and long-term stability when exposed to temperature variations. The LS-10 pressure transmitter also features a watertight, vented polyurethane cable that can withstand over 220 pounds of strain and supports the transmitter without any additional cabling. In addition, the LS-10 pressure transmittermeets NEMA 6P and IP 68 requirements for permanent submersion up to 300 feet.

Compensation for atmospheric pressure changes is accomplished through a vent tube in the cable.  Many accessories, including cable clamps, desiccant drying cartridges, additional weights, and junction boxes are available for specific installation requirements.  Both models can be equipped with the LevelGuard attachment for protection in difficult environments.

 Features

  • Ranges from 50 INWC to 400 psi
  • Rated IP68 for permanent submersion
  • Hastelloy case available for aggressive media (Model LH-10 only)
  • 4-20 mA 2-wire output signal, others available
  • Vent Tube desiccant drying cartridge and other accessories available
  • Lightning protection available (Model LH-10 only)
  • Stainless steel wetted parts with 220 lb. Tensile Strength Polyurethane Cable
  • Units are assembled in Lawrenceville, GA where customer specified cable lengths are added and level guards machined, assembled and tested.

WIKA LevelGuard

The WIKA LevelGuard attachment for submersible transmitters is designed for difficult level sensing applications where sludge, slurry, or turbulence may be present.  It is available with the LS-10 pressure transmitter, LH-10 high performance pressure transmitter, and IL-10 FM approved intrinsically safe submersible level pressure transmitters.

The large, two-inch diaphragm provides excellent sensitivity and performance even when used to monitor extremely low liquid levels or when the assembly is buried in a layer of sludge or slurry.  The cable supplied with WIKA submersible pressure transmitters is designed to withstand over 200 pounds of strain so no additional support or conduit connections are required.  The rugged all stainless steel LevelGuard provides excellent durability and service life in difficult environments.

Features

  • For lift stations, wet wells, and other applications
  • All 316 stainless steel construction for durability
  • 2″ diameter diaphragm provides excellent sensitivity for measurement
  • Diaphragm is protected from physical damage and turbulence
  • Added weight prevents movement of the transmitter
  • Prevents clogging by large debris
  • Vent Tube (desiccant filter option)
  • The seals used are manufactured in Lawrenceville, GA

Keeping Moisture from the Vent Tube

  • Problem with vented pressure transducers is that water or moisture ingress over a long period of time can cause the transducer to fail or output to drift.
  • Water may condense inside the pressure transducer vent tube during humid conditions.

  • The solution is to have a desiccant drying cartridge installed at the end of the vent tube. The desiccant turns pink as it takes up moisture.  The tube needs to be periodically checked and replaced or recharged to ensure continued moisture protection of the transducer.

VentGuard Submersible Cable Protection Kit

Submersible pressure transmitter cables contain a vent tube that allows the pressrue transmitter to automatically compensate for changes in barometric pressure. This tube leads to the back of the pressure sensor inside the transmitter. The transmitter may become damaged if moisture enters this tube.

The submersible cable protection kit is designed for applications where humidity or moisture is present. It should be mounted in a location that will never be submerged. The NEMA 4X junction box features a transparent cover that allows easy viewing of the desiccant canister. The indicating silica gel in the canister changes color from blue to pink when canister regeneration is needed.

The canister can be regenerated by placing on its end in a microwave oven for approximately two minutes. A PTFE vent tube filter provides additional protection against dirt and moisture entering the vent tube. Two compression fittings accommodate the submersible cable entry on one side and standard cable for the exit side.

Features

  • NEMA 4 / IP 67 cable junction box with transparent polycarbonate cover
  • PTFE vent tube filter
  • Reusable desiccant canister regenerates in microwave
  • 7 position screw terminal block
